- 10:00 AM7hMemento Morididdle Exhibition by Charles ClaryMemento Morididdle Exhibition by Charles ClaryExhibition Dates: September 12, 2024 - October 11, 2024Charles Clary's Memento Morididdle installations take the form of Victorian or Rococo salon style walls, densely compacted with hundreds of frames, with each frame containing a paper sculpture. This maximalist approach to his installation practice achieves the desired outcome of overwhelming the viewer with an inundation of information. But unlike historic sitting rooms he collects his traumas, abuses, transgressions, and grief for exhibition. These memories are on display for all to see: no hiding, no masking, just raw truths. Not only are they my traumas, but they are often those of the viewers as well. Collectively we hurt, we grieve, and we lament the darkest moments in our lives. Instead of hiding behind walls, we can wear them as badges of honor and growth.Join us for the following:Opening Reception at UCF Art Gallery on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5-7pm - [Register Here](https://www.ticketsource.us/ucf-art-gallery/opening-reception-memento-morididdle/2024-09-12/17:00/t-gagnldq) Closing Reception & Artist Talk at UCF Art Gallery on Friday, Oct. 11 from 5-7pm - [Register Here](https://www.ticketsource.us/ucf-art-gallery/closing-reception-artist-talk-memento-morididdle/2024-10-11/17:00/t-xmxpdjz)Parking: Free parking is available in Garage F next to the Addition Financial Arena. - 1:30 PM3hParallel Computing with MATLAB: Part 1 of 2The first part of this workshop focuses on parallel computing with MATLAB on the desktop. The host will introduce the concept of parallel computing and briefly cover optimizing code before diving into parallelism in MATLAB and common programming constructs, such as parfor (including optimization and performance considerations) and parfeval. Next, scaling options are introduced with discussion about GPUs and clusters/clouds and the workflow of submitting to these resources. Throughout this part of the workshop, users will complete hands-on exercises alongside the instructor as concepts are introduced. The second part of the workshop will focus on showing users how to submit jobs on the ARCC cluster. With MATLAB installed on their own machine, users will be guided through the process of configuring a cluster profile, setting jobs submission arguments, accessing GPU resources, and submitting both single-node and multi-node jobs that run remotely on ARCC. This workshop is aimed at new users of parallel computing in MATLAB. Previous MATLAB experience is beneficial but not required. PREREQUISITES:* [MATLAB installed on your local machine.](https://www.mathworks.com/academia/tah-portal/university-of-central-florida-31651834.html) Only version R2024a is supported. * An account on the ARCC HPC cluster.
