Geo Explorer Summer Institute

The [Mathematical Exploration Summer Institute](https://siucf.cs.ucf.edu/) is a one-week day program for high school students who are interested in mathematical exploration that goes beyond the high school curriculum. The program will offer hands-on activities, group work and lectures given by local professors at UCF. Participants will learn about exciting mathematics, discover new arguments and explain insights to their peers. Throughout the program, not only will students engage in deep exploration of mathematics and develop as a mathematician, but they will be immersed in a community of others who share their mathematical talent and curiosity. The Biology Summer Institute is a one-week program for rising junior and senior high school students interested in seeking further understanding of Central Florida's diverse ecosystems, from Orlando to the east coast. This program will introduce students to field techniques and experimental approaches used in water quality assessment, vegetation monitoring, forest ecology, and studies of gopher tortoises and marine turtles. Throughout the program, students will participate in hands-on experiences with professional biologists in a fun and educational setting designed to inspire a passion for studying the fields of biology, ecology and natural resource conservation. In addition, students will spend one day in the lab learning basic data analysis and the importance of communicating science.
