The UCF Symphony Orchestra is a full orchestra with strings, brass, woodwind and percussion. The group performs literature of the highest caliber by master composers such as Bach, Beethoven and Mahler. The ensemble performs locally and regionally for various concerts and festivals and is open to all students regardless of major, but participation is by audition only, taking place at the beginning of each semester. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Hsiang Tu debuted in New York at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center as the winner of The Juilliard School Concerto Competition and has performed in venues all over the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, National Museum Cardiff, the Leeds University Great Hall, Conservatoire Superieur de Paris, Sendai Youth Cultural Centre in Japan and the National Recital Hall in Taipei.
