- Oct 306:00 PMPicture This: Tapping Into the Power of Picturebooks To Support Disciplinary Literacy (K-5)In this session, we invite participants to explore the potential of picture books for establishing a foundation for disciplinary literacy in the elementary classroom. We will first examine the nature of the picture book and consider what makes this text format so ideal for a broad range of learners. Then, we will offer recommendations for incorporating types of picture books into the elementary curriculum to support children's critical thinking and responses to these texts. Specific pedagogical strategies and recommended titles will be shared. Presenters:[Patricia A.
