In this session, we invite participants to explore the potential of picture books for establishing a foundation for disciplinary literacy in the elementary classroom. We will first examine the nature of the picture book and consider what makes this text format so ideal for a broad range of learners. Then, we will offer recommendations for incorporating types of picture books into the elementary curriculum to support children's critical thinking and responses to these texts. We're transforming the high ropes course into a haunted adventure under the stars. Join us for power pilates! A more intense twist on everyone's favorite class, think more movement, more equipment and a faster pace for a full-body burn. This one-time event will be Halloween-themed and taught by Mia and Onna. It will take place on Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. on Court 4. Bring a mat, water and a costume (fitness appropriate). The UCF Brass Chamber includes the UCF Trumpet Ensemble, the UCF Horn Ensemble, the UCF Trombone Ensemble, and the UCF Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble.
