- Dec 49:00 AMGovernment Contracting: OverviewFederal, state and local government procurement is the largest target market in the world. The question is usually not "Does the government buy what you are selling?" It is more, "Can you be competitive enough and relentless enough to position your business to win government contracts?" If you think you can be competitive, then government contracting may be a good growth opportunity for your business. The Government Contracting Overview seminar, presented by the APEX Accelerators at UCF in partnership with the Florida SBDC at UCF, is designed for established small business owners with some commercial momentum that are curious about government contracting, as well as business owners that may already be involved in government contracting. This workshop will present government contracting in three components: positioning for government contracting, developing reactive business development strategies and developing proactive business development strategies. Specifically, we will discuss registration requirements, social-economic certification opportunities, market research tools, Florida PTAC's "Bid-Match" system and what we refer to as the initial "marketing tool kit" for government contractors.Join us for this great learning opportunity!Virtual Location URL: https://events.blackthorn.io/en/6g3Q8Wa7/government-contracting-overview-5a1e6g4Tumh/overview Registration Link: https://events.blackthorn.io/en/6g3Q8Wa7/government-contracting-overview-5a1e6g4Trwr/overview

- Dec 56:00 PMScribbles and Stories: Nurturing and Assessing Meaningful Writing in Early ChildhoodEarly writing is a critical part of emergent literacy, yet early childhood education often emphasizes transcription skills such as handwriting mechanics and spelling rather than meaning-making aspects of writing, such as composition. During this presentation, Dr. Margaret Quinn will focus on strategies for supporting and assessing young children's writing, specifically composing skills, highlighting the importance of fostering these skills at an early age. By providing meaningful writing opportunities, like those explored in this presentation, teachers can elevate children's writing abilities, build motivation and interest, and lay essential foundations for later literacy development. Attendees will gain insights into practical approaches that encourage children to write and foster a positive writing environment in the classroom.[Margaret F. Quinn](https://directory.education.tamu.edu/view/1770) is an associate professor at Texas A&M University, College of Education and Human Development, in the department of Teaching, Learning and Culture.*This event was originally scheduled for Sept. 26.
