- Nov 14–15MidKnight 5kJoin us for the Recreation and Wellness Center's Annual MidKnight 5K event! Participants will walk, jog, or run 3.1 miles (5 kilometers) around UCF's campus at midnight. We will meet at the reflecting pond, there will be a DJ, snacks, and T-shirts for participants to check into the event! Registration opens October 27th! This trip is for you! We will be teaching participants how to pack and fit a backpack all while having fun along the way.What's Included: All of our adventures include all necessary gear for the activity (including backpacks, camping gear, etc), transportation to/from the activity, and professional guidance by OA Trip Leaders. All staff are certified in First Aid/CPR/AED, and most are certified Wilderness First Responders.Meals will be provided on this trip; all menus will take dietary restrictions/preferences and allergies into account. Occasionally, groups will eat at restaurants while traveling. These meals are not included in your trip cost. Your Trip Leaders will inform you of any meals not included in the trip price.What's Not Included: Participants should wear athletic clothing, appropriate footwear, and bring personal water/snacks. - Nov 153:00 PMOpera Scenes PerformanceThis year's program includes scenes from Donizetti's "L'elisir d'amore", Nicolai's "The Merry Wives of Windsor", Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel", Mozart's "Don Giovanni", and Verdi's "Nabucco".Every fall semester, the students enrolled in UCF's Opera Workshop class are assigned scenes to study, memorize, and prepare for this annual event. This year we have 16 students in the class - many of them are new students at UCF - and they are excited about singing/acting for you. We have four performances from which to choose - two on Sunday, November 9 and two on Saturday, November 15. The venue is on the main UCF campus in the "Rehearsal Hall Auditorium".The Rehearsal Hall Auditorium only seats about 90-100 guests, so please purchase your ticket(s) ahead of time to assure a seat. We will have spaces designated for wheelchair seating as well. The Blended Learning class includes an online portion (most participants can complete this in approximately 2 hours) and an instructor-led class skills session (approximately two hours long). The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class skills session.Each participant who successfully completes the course will earn an American Red Cross certificate in Adult First Aid, CPR with AED.
