- All dayPegasus Playlab 2024Join us for the sixth annual Pegasus PlayLab, a celebration of innovation and creativity in theatre! At Pegasus PlayLab, we serve as an arts incubator for the next generation of theatre. A place for creativity, passion, and storytelling, dedicated to nurturing emerging playwrights and launching new works into the spotlight. Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of theatre as you witness the early stages of development for these new productions.Pegasus PlayLab is a festival dedicated to developing plays by emerging playwrights. Playwrights are invited to UCF's campus for a two-week residency to develop their new play with students and faculty. Audiences are to hear staged readings and experience a full production of a new play first workshopped at Orlando Shakes' PlayFest. Follow these plays into the next stage of development and be part of the creative process with playwrights, casts and artistic teams! - 9:00 AM18d 8h2024 Computer Science Summer InstituteThe Summer Institute is an intensive three-week program (June 3-21) for students who have interest in learning the foundations of computer science and computer technology. The program offers a mix of activities designed to maximize learning through interactive, individualized instruction with outstanding instructors. It is also designed to expose students to broader topics in computer science through the distinguished lectures series where researchers speak about computing from pragmatic and academic points of view. Although focused on computer science instruction, one of the most important benefits to the participants is the opportunity to interact with like-minded peers who share similar interests and talents and to make lifelong friendships. - 10:00 AM7hPathways 2024: The Carlos Malamud Prize ExhibitionPathways 2024: The Carlos Malamud Prize ExhibitionExhibition Dates: May 30, 2024 - August 30, 2024This exhibition is the result of a collaborative partnership between the UCF Art Gallery at the University of Central Florida and the Rollins Museum of Art to celebrate and support emerging professional artists working in Florida. Juried by an external panel of three professionals from various areas of the art world, this year's edition of the exhibition features six artists with diverse practices. The selection includes a variety of media, themes, scales and approaches, showing a wide breadth of perspectives and experiences. Works by the six finalists will be shown at both venues, creating opportunities for engagement with two of the area's major academic constituencies and their surrounding communities. The winning artist of Pathways: The Carlos Malamud Prize will receive a $10,000 cash prize, a solo exhibition at the UCF Art Gallery in 2025 and will participate as a juror for the following edition of the exhibition. The winner will also receive additional professional development and support. This consistent engagement over time makes Pathways unique and transformative among other art competitions. It hopes to nurture emerging artists and provide a pathway to success, which coincides with the core missions of both presenting institutions.Join us for the following:Opening reception and prize winner announcement Thursday, May 30, from 5-7 p.m. at UCF Art Gallery.Parking: Free parking is available in Garage F next to the Addition Financial Arena.
