- 12:00 AM5:00 PM2024 Computer Science Summer InstituteThe Summer Institute is an intensive three-week program (June 3-21) for students who have interest in learning the foundations of computer science and computer technology. The program offers a mix of activities designed to maximize learning through interactive, individualized instruction with outstanding instructors. It is also designed to expose students to broader topics in computer science through the distinguished lectures series where researchers speak about computing from pragmatic and academic points of view. Although focused on computer science instruction, one of the most important benefits to the participants is the opportunity to interact with like-minded peers who share similar interests and talents and to make lifelong friendships. - 10:00 AM2hSVAD In-Person Information Session and TourStudents interested in programs within the School of Visual Arts and Design are encouraged to tour our art studios and other computer labs. Each tour begins with an information session presented by the SVAD advising team with an overview of each program and their requirements. Tours are conducted by faculty, staff, alumni and student ambassadors who are enrolled in an SVAD program. These sessions and tours are offered together and are scheduled on select Fridays (except for holidays). Each info session begins at 10 a.m. and tours begin at 11 a.m. in the Visual Arts Building. - 10:00 AM7hPathways 2024: The Carlos Malamud Prize ExhibitionPathways 2024: The Carlos Malamud Prize ExhibitionExhibition Dates: May 30, 2024 - August 30, 2024This exhibition is the result of a collaborative partnership between the UCF Art Gallery at the University of Central Florida and the Rollins Museum of Art to celebrate and support emerging professional artists working in Florida. Juried by an external panel of three professionals from various areas of the art world, this year's edition of the exhibition features six artists with diverse practices. The selection includes a variety of media, themes, scales and approaches, showing a wide breadth of perspectives and experiences. Works by the six finalists will be shown at both venues, creating opportunities for engagement with two of the area's major academic constituencies and their surrounding communities. The winning artist of Pathways: The Carlos Malamud Prize will receive a $10,000 cash prize, a solo exhibition at the UCF Art Gallery in 2025 and will participate as a juror for the following edition of the exhibition. The winner will also receive additional professional development and support. This consistent engagement over time makes Pathways unique and transformative among other art competitions. It hopes to nurture emerging artists and provide a pathway to success, which coincides with the core missions of both presenting institutions.Join us for the following:Opening reception and prize winner announcement Thursday, May 30, from 5-7 p.m. at UCF Art Gallery.Parking: Free parking is available in Garage F next to the Addition Financial Arena.
