- Apr 1910:00 AMSVAD In-Person Information Session and TourStudents interested in programs within the School of Visual Arts and Design are encouraged to tour our art studios and other computer labs. Each tour begins with an information session presented by the SVAD advising team with an overview of each program and their requirements. Tours are conducted by faculty, staff, alumni and student ambassadors who are enrolled in an SVAD program. These sessions and tours are offered together and are scheduled on select Fridays (except for holidays). Each info session begins at 10 a.m. and tours begin at 11 a.m. in the Visual Arts Building. - Apr 1912:30 PMDr. Aaron Pegram's Bassoon MasterclassDr. Aaron Pegram (Assistant Professor of Bassoon, Miami University) Aaron Pergram joined the faculty at Miami University as Assistant Professor of Bassoon in 2019. Before coming to Oxford, he served on faculty for five years at Soochow University in Suzhou, China. Pergram received degrees from the University of Kansas (BM), Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music (MM), and the University of Oregon (DMA). His prominent teachers include Eric Stomberg, William Ludwig, and Steve Vacchi. As a global performer, Pergram has appeared on stage with the World Master Orchestra (Shanghai), Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (WA), Eugene Opera, Oregon Mozart Players, Oregon Festival of American Music, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Natchez Opera Festival, and many other ensembles. He has been a featured performer in China at several notable venues including the Suzhou Poly Grand Theatre, Jinji Lake Concert Hall, Shanghai Symphony Hall, and Hangzhou Grand Theater among others. Outside of North America, his musical journeys have taken him to various places in Asia including Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and much of Mainland China. A proponent of new music, Pergram promotes an expanded canon of core repertoire pieces including works by women and people of color. New music aside, he also greatly enjoys performing early music from the standard bassoon repertoire or his transcriptions. As a teacher, Pergram has given master classes at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, University of Oregon, Northwest University for Nationalities, Zunyi Normal College, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Anhui Normal University, Shenzhen Arts School, and Dulwich College Suzhou.

Bring your bassoon!Guest Clinician & Artist: Fernando TrabaPrincipal Bassoon, Sarasota OrchestraFaculty, University of South FloridaFernando Traba, Principal Bassoon of the Sarasota Orchestra, is serving as Adjunct Bassoon Faculty at USF for the 2020-2021 school year. Mr. Traba has served on the faculty of Department of Music at Florida Southern College since 2000, and also teaches bassoon at the State College of Florida. A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Mr. Traba has served as Principal Bassoon of Sarasota Orchestra since 1992. He holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Cleveland Institute of Music and has done postgraduate work at the Juilliard School. In addition to his orchestral duties and teaching positions, he has edited and provided the Spanish language translation for the 2nd edition of Bassoon Reed Making: Basic Technique by Christopher Weait.
